I gave myself a challenge to see if I could emulate #Monet s #impressionist style with #coloredpencils #polychromos on #arches 300gsm/140lb HP watercolor paper.. this allowed me many more layers and so better for the experimentation!!! I am very happy with both pieces!! and is something I am going to explore further and perhaps see if I can incorporate it into my other “segmented” style so many wonderful possibilities.. these are quite small approx. 5 x 7″ so whatever I do…

Hi there, I wanted to share this piece I completed yesterday… I decided to get back to some ink and watercolor, and play with using a photo as the basis for a piece – I want to work towards fusing my stream of consciousness abstractions with real images/photos.. and this was the result! Here they are – the completed pairs. 7 x 5″ on fabriano heavy watercolor paper, using my Uniball rollerball pen and Cotman watercolors. We have a large tree in our backyard that was very productive this year and we have many pairs around the kitchen so I decided to use that as my muse..
Well, this piece started out with the intention of being entirely abstract/surreal… and what I’ve ended up with is something completely different! a representational, almost cubist random female portrait.. she just appeared out of the inked lines! – then I applied the watercolor – I had a hard time considering what to do with the color.. it’s the first time I’ve come back to proper watercolors in some time.. .
