Hi – I thought I’d share these work in progress photos of the Poppies piece – my tribute to those that have fallen for our freedom (ANZACs) as well as those that have fought on behalf of the free world.. .still a ways to go.. but getting there.. Here they are – the completed pairs. 7 x 5″ on fabriano heavy watercolor paper, using my Uniball rollerball pen and Cotman watercolors. We have a large tree in our backyard that was very productive this year and we have many pairs around the kitchen so I decided to use that as my muse..
It’s been a little while since my last post.. so I thought I’d share this graphite surrealistic drawing I just completed in my sketchbook/journal… And this one is a work in progress that I am going to color with watercolors in experimentation of the style I used in the previous female portrait.. something small and simple.. I’m hoping to complete this over the next day – I’ll look forward to sharing the result! đŸ™‚
Well, this piece started out with the intention of being entirely abstract/surreal… and what I’ve ended up with is something completely different! a representational, almost cubist random female portrait..  she just appeared out of the inked lines! – then I applied the watercolor – I had a hard time considering what to do with the color.. it’s the first time I’ve come back to proper watercolors in some time.. .
